Dismal Swamp - Not so Dismal!!

The Great Dismal Swamp is a marshy area on the Coastal Plain Region of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina between Norfolk, Virginia, and Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  The waters of the canal area a deep coffee brown from the tannic acid released into the water from decaying vegetation. The scenery along the canal is stunning.  I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
