Up at 5:30 am today, as we will be crossing Lake Michigan, hopefully she will be kind! It was a perfect day, light winds 5-8 mph, the waves were less than 1 foot.
Sunrise over Lake Michigan as we are traveling west
Sunrise in the east.  Notice the flat waters!
We could not have picked a better day to cross this ever changing lake.  We left with Last Dance, Ookpik and NautiNell.  Ookpik and NautiNell had visited Chicago by train yesterday, so they decided to head directly to the Calumet River.  Last Dance traveled with us across the lake and will stay in DuSable Harbor; we will stay in Burnham Harbor, a few miles south of DuSable.  The only complaint that we had was the haze over the city.  We weren't able to get clear pictures of Chicago as we were coming in from the water.
Last Dance
Chicago!
We arrived, received a slip assignment at the end of the T-dock and got all are lines set, then went to check in.  When we returned to the boat, we found that we needed to move the boat around the end of the T as we were given the wrong slip.  This actually worked out well, as we were no longer directly subject to the wakes caused by the traffic going up and down the harbor and the folks on the dock next to us were having a Chicago Bears tailgate party on the dock.  They invited us to share in all the food they had prepared!  Today was the season opener for the Bears and Soldier Field is a stone's throw away from the marina and there were Bears fans everywhere.
It is another full moon tonight (our third on this journey).  Here is the full moon in Chicago over Burnham Harbor.
And the Chicago night sky
Tomorrow we will take in the sights of Chicago!
