We headed out to our first lock of the day, Lock 19.  As luck would have it, they were having a problem opening the door on the right.  We had to go into the lock with only one door open!!
Only one door will open!!
OMG, will we fit??
Yes, we did fit and were able to continue on!  This section of the canal is very straight and lined with trees.  Nothing much to see along this stretch.
Travelling down the straight and narrow
The next lock will lift us to the highest point on the canal.  We have gone up 420 feet.  The following lock will start taking us down.
It'll be downhill from here!
Bob waiting for the downward trip
Yikes, how do we get down there!
So that's how it's done!
Our destination tonight is Sylvan Beach.  Some of the marinas are a combination marina and campground.

We are staying on a wall right at the edge of Oneida Lake.  Another FREE night.  Tomorrow, weather permitting, we will travel 20 miles across Oneida Lake and stop in Brewerton.

  1. FYI Winter Harbour in Brewerton has the best prices for fuel...and it goes nowhere but UP from then on out. 3.99 when we were there. Also load up on Beer, wine, wine coolers etc. it all cost twice as much in Canada.
