We are joined at Grand Harbor Marina by another looper, Mike and Twyla on Nauti Nell, they had anchored out last night nearby.  We all head out today, with Nauti Nell in the lead, then Sweet Pea and Erika Lin bringing up the tail.  It is very important to pay attention to the buoys, it gets shallow very quickly outside the channel!

The Tenn-Tom is a waterway that connects the Tennessee River with the Tombigbee, as a means of bypassing the lower Mississippi River.  More dirt was moved to build the Tenn-Tom than was moved to build the Panama Canal!  The section of the Tenn-Tom that we will travel today is called the Divide Cut.  It begins after we pass under this bridge
And, 24 miles later, we have completed the Divide Cut and can say goodbye to the rip rap that lined the banks of the canal,
and hello to the wide open waters of Bay Springs Lake.  If you enlarge the picture above, you can see Nauti Nell and Sweet Pea in the distance ahead of us.

There is almost no one else on the water and the lake is extremely peaceful and serene.
