Spring Rendezvous participants |
The AGLCA Rendezvous has come and gone. We had a good time and met some new loopers. Some just beginning the loop, some part-way through and others that are just in the planning stages. We posted a good many of our charts for sale and was able to sell all but two charts and three Claiborne Young cruising guides. Come early on Friday morning, about five of the attendees had already left and begun their journey up the river and on into Chesapeake Bay. We had decided to stay a couple more days and do some sight seeing of the area with Barbara and Ken on "Loop Dreams". Friday morning Ken and Bob got the rental car and we headed out to the Mariner Museum and then to Jamestown. Both stops were outstanding and had amazing displays. The museum has an actual size replica of the Monitor, along with the actual propeller on display. They also have the turret tower, but it is currently in the restoration process and not available for viewing. At Jamestown, there is an archaeological dig in process and while we were there, they found a bottle cap that they had not seen before. The artifacts on display, that were found at the site, are truly amazing. Today the four of us went to Colonial Williamsburg and returned to the boat thoroughly exhausted! Another great day of learning about our country's history.
