Another glorious day!  After going through Lock 35-Rosedale, we went by two boats, Prowess from Canada and BraveHeart from California.  Prowess called BraveHeart on the VHF radio and mentioned that Bob and Lynda on Erika Lin was going by.  Lynda responded to Prowess and they asked if we had been on the Trent Severn Waterway before and if not, they would be happy to lead the way through the upcoming narrow, rocky channel.  Since the “Skipper Bob” guide suggests the following – "Run this section on a calm day, Broadcast Security Warnings when entering the narrow channels and Pass very close abeam when meeting oncoming boats in the narrow channels", we accepted.  The procession of Prowess, Erika Lin and BraveHeart began.  The photos below tell the story!
Narrow Trent Canal from Balsam Lake
Rocks on the edge of the canal, under water and only 10-15 feet from the side of the boat!

Oh, oh, oncoming traffic.  Will we both fit??

Sunset at the Kirkfield Lift.  We will enter this lift tomorrow!
We made it through the canal !  We will spend the night at the top of Kirkfield Lift Lock and will go through the lock tomorrow with Prowess and BraveHeart.  Oh, almost forgot, they have great Kawartha Dairy ice cream at Joy C’s restaurant!
