Yesterday, Lynda's Mom and sister Nancy, arrived from Connecticut.  When they left Connecticut the temperature was 8 degrees and it was snowing.  When they arrived in Ft. Myers the temperature was 70 degrees with sunny blue skies.  Welcome to Florida!!  Anyone that knows my Mom knows that she loves to play bingo, so Monday evening it was off to bingo.  Mom's luck was not with her that night, but not so for Lynda and Nancy; Lynda won $50 and Nancy won $25!!  A good time was had by all.  Tuesday morning the three of us (Bob stayed at the boat with Tucker and Willow), drove to Everglades City for an airboat and swamp buggy ride.  The airboat took us through waterways in the Everglades.  It is currently the dry season here so there was quite a bit of shallow water and muddy patches.  No alligators were found, but a good number of wading birds and a terrific ride on the airboat.

Next it was off to the swampbuggy ride.  Our driver was an extremely knowledgeable eighth generation native Floridian.  She pointed out the different types of foliage plants that grow wild and can be used as food sources.  Again, because of the dry time of year, the swamp wasn't too muddy or swampy, but it was a most enjoyable tour. Along the way we came across a deer feeding in the woods and we paused at a canal and were treated to manatees feeding in the waterway.

We went on to the reptile exhibit.  They have the largest alligators that we have ever seen, they were enormous, some were at least twenty feet long; and more than you can imagine in one place!
