The weather forecast was for light winds, with 1 to 2 foot seas on Albermarle Sound. The wind was on our beam, so we rocked and rolled a little. It wasn't too uncomfortable, but when we turned up the Pasquatank River, it was much smoother and continued that way until we arrived at our destination. During the day, we had to fight the flies! Here is Bob-prepared as always!!
As we were traveling along, I noticed a small butterfly just outside the window on the fly bridge. He actually landed on the horn on the side of the boat and was traveling with us!
A ways in the distance on the Pasquatank River we noticed this huge rooftop sitting back from the shore. It was noted on the chart, but didn't indicate what it was. Do you know what it is?
This immense structure was built during World War II for the manufacture of dirigibles. They still construct blimps here and sometimes passersby can spot one of the mammoth balloons being tested as they pass. We were not so fortunate!!
