A lighthouse we passed on the way to Little Current |
As we were heading out the Killarney Channel, our friends on BraveHeart were arriving, We waived hello and said we would meet them in Little Current the following day as our plans are to spend two days in Little Current. The trip to Little Current was pleasant and mostly uneventful. Notice I say "mostly". There is a swing bridge in Little Current with a published clearance of 18 feet that you must go through, otherwise wait for the opening on the hour. Since it was twenty minutes before the hour, I called the bridge operator to confirm the clearance height. He said 18 feet was the maximum clearance; they prefer to say it is 17 feet in the event of bad weather. Well, our clearance is 16 feet, so Bob decided to take a chance rather than wait the 20 minutes. We are happy to say we cleared the bridge with about 1 1/2 feet to spare! Shortly after docking, Bob and I headed into town to attend the Cruisers Net happy hour at the Anchor Inn. The Cruisers Net is a VHF radio broadcast hosted by Roy Eaton on VHF channel 71 every morning at 9:00 am. Cruisers new to the area are invited to attend the live broadcast. He first announces any cruisers that are in the room with him, then gives the current weather report and reads the news. Boaters in the area are invited to call into report where they are and where they will be headed that day. It's interesting in that it lets you keep track of people you have met and also a safety thing. We enjoyed the happy hour and then went back to the boat for dinner. Tonight was another full moon. It's hard to believe that this is the 2nd full moon on the trip, we've been gone a month and a half already!!

This inunshuk is in front of a local artisans gift shop. I am now the proud owner of my own, locally made, granite inunshuk! Not this one, but one much, much smaller!! (see below)
